DOUBLE PODIUM FINISH FOR DILIP ROGGER IN LOSAIL ASIAN SUPER SERIES
May 11, 2014, Qatar: Indian rider Dilip Rogger had a successful comeback to international racing after getting a double podium finish in the final round of the Losail Asian Super Series Championship in the 600cc category. Rogger finished 3rd in Race 1 while he went one better and finished in 2nd place in Race 2 in his first ever night race at the Losail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar.
With his limited running on the track Rogger was always going to be at a disadvantage compared to his rival. He gradually got faster as the race weekend went on and had a good start in Race 1. While he could not match the pace of the leaders he went on to finish in 3rd place. In Race 2 he benefitted from a crash between two of the riders ahead of him to move upto 2nd place and stay there till the chequered flag.
Rogger, who is supported by was satisfied with his race return. He commented, "It felt great to be racing again wheel-to-wheel. This whole weekend was about learning the track and improving over the weekend. I am really happy to get podiums in both races of our 600cc category. I would like thank PYRRA, FMSCI and the QMMF for giving me this opportunity to race again. I am looking forward to doing more races this year."
Rogger is participating in the final round of the Losail Asian Super Series Championship riding a Yamaha R6 in the 600cc category. This Championship is organized by Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF).
Dilip Rogger is no stranger to the motorcycling racing industry and has been after making his debut at the age of 13. He has been a regular entrant in the Malaysian Super Series and FIM Asia Road Racing Championship including race wins. Rogger also participated in the German National Championship and became the first Indian to race in Endurance races internationally.
Rajini Krishnan had a crash during a free practice session in turn had to skip the qualifying session and had to start from the back. In spite of starting 31st on the grid managed to finish 6th in the Race - 1 and 5th in Race - 2.
