Akhil Rabindra earns top-10 finish starting from back on the grid at the Misano World Circuit in GT4 European Series
Bengaluru, 2nd July 2019: Akhil Rabindra, the only Asian racer who got selected for the Aston Martin Racing Driver Academy earlier this year, dished out an exceptional performance at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Italy on Sunday (June 30, 2019). Having charged from position 32 on the grid to finish at the 13th position helped him maintain his position in the top-ten at GT4 European Series.
Despite facing heavy challenges due to mechanical issues with the car in the first race, David Griessner clocked the fastest lap in race 1 with an impressive timing of 1:43.257 mins completing 7 laps before being forced to retire the car.
The second race on Sunday started magnificently for the 23-year-old racer who re-joined the race from the last position to 15th. David took over after the mandatory pit stop, gaining position 13th and Top 10 in Silver Cup category. Unfortunately there was a full course yellow right after the pit stop which restricted the racing speed to 80 kmph with no overtaking, resulting in loosing some hard earned positions. With a remarkable leap of 18 positions, ProSport Performance Racing duo completed 32 laps in 1:01:23.210 mins. Winners J.Kisiel and M.Koebolt of Leipert Motorsport completed 32 laps ( 1:00:29.563 mins) with a Mercedes AMG GT4. The ProSport Performance racing new pairing comprising of Akhil Rabindra and David Griessner, who were driving the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, completed 32 laps to finish 10th in class. ProSport team did an amazing job in repairing the car and setting up a competitive car.
Akhil will compete at 24h Portimao, Autodromo Inernacional Do Algarve, Portimão, Portugal next weekend (5th-7th July 2019).
